Ear Correction

The technique for prominent ear correction surgery (otoplasty) used by Dr Stradwick is less destructive than the older procedures.

The old “pinning ears back” approach gave unnatural results. Often the ears were pulled too close to the head and the incision through the cartilage resulted in a visibly sharp edge. In addition this operation required the skin to be extensively peeled off the cartilage resulting in significant swelling and a longer recovery.

Dr Stradwick uses a more limited approach requiring minimal de-gloving of the ear. He uses a special instrument to weaken rather than cut the cartilage. This gives a softer and more natural folding of the ear.

The less invasive approach to ear correction surgery is associated with less swelling and a faster recovery.
